Keio University will be holding the 43rd Shinzo Koizumi Prize All Japan High School Essay Contest. This contest began in 1976 to commemorate the 10th anniversary of the passing of Dr. Shinzo Koizumi, who served as the President of Keio University for over 13 years starting in 1933. Its purpose is to pass on the character and achievements of Dr. Koizumi—an outstanding researcher, educator, and excellent writer—to future generations and to contribute to the improvement of the writing and expressive abilities of young people.

In recent times, the decline in the writing skills of young people has been pointed out. This contest, however, calls for well-reasoned "essays" of 6,000 to 8,000 characters in length. Every year, we receive numerous applications from all over the country, with many high-quality works submitted. Please note that applications must be submitted through the dedicated application form.

Therefore, we kindly request your assistance again this year in promoting the contest's purpose to as many high school students, parents, and high school teachers as possible to encourage a large number of applications.
