Keio University has been planning a new facility for the preservation and collaborative use of its cultural properties and academic materials, which have been accumulated over its more than 150-year history. The university has now decided to open the "Keio Museum Commons" (tentative name) in fiscal year 2020. The impetus for this launch was a donation of materials and a 3-billion-yen endowment from the Century Cultural Foundation.

The facility is scheduled to be newly constructed on university-owned land adjacent to the east side of the Mita Campus, and details are currently being examined with the aim of completion within fiscal year 2020.

The Keio Museum Commons will disseminate interdisciplinary research and educational activities through its materials and propose new models for exhibition and collection by fusing analog and digital content, making full use of the advanced IT technologies that Keio University has accumulated.
