In August 2015, Keio University established the Cybersecurity Research Center. Since then, it has been promoting interdisciplinary initiatives to address societal issues in the field of cybersecurity, such as holding international symposiums and establishing the world's first international collaborative organization to address cyber threats, the InterNational Cyber Security Center of Excellence (INCS-CoE), in November 2016.

The international symposium "Cyber3 conference Tokyo 2017" will be held at Keio University's Mita Campus on Thursday, October 5 and Friday, October 6, 2017. The event is co-hosted with the 5th International Cybersecurity Symposium, organized by the Keio University Cybersecurity Research Center.

Cyber3 stands for "Cyber connection," "Cyber crime," and "Cybersecurity," and addresses three closely interrelated themes: the impact of increased interconnectivity from IoT and internet services, the rise in cybercrime accompanying this change in connectivity, and the resulting security challenges.

This Cyber3 Conference, under the theme "2020 and Beyond," will feature discussions on what must be done now, considering the bright and dark sides of cyberspace in the 2020s. Insights from international experts, government policies, cutting-edge university research, and industry initiatives will be shared to foster open discussions among a true multi-stakeholder community, with the outcomes communicated as recommendations to the Japanese government and other bodies.

We welcome media coverage of this symposium.
