Keio University
Following the opening of the Hiyoshi International Dormitory (Kohoku-ku, Yokohama) this past March, Keio University will open the Motosumiyoshi International Dormitory (tentative name) (Nakahara-ku, Kawasaki) in March 2018. This will be a mixed-type international dormitory where international and Japanese students can live together. Along with the Tsunashima SST International Dormitory (tentative name) (Kohoku-ku, Yokohama), which is also scheduled to open around the same time, two new international student dormitories will be established in March 2018. This will bring the total number of Keio University student dormitories to 10, with a planned total capacity of 1,524 students.
In 2014, Keio University was selected for the "Top Global University Project" by the Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology (MEXT) as a Top Type (Type A) university, recognized for its world-class education and research. To this day, the university has been actively promoting the admission of international students and student-led international exchange activities. The expansion of mixed-type student dormitories—where international students from around the world and Japanese students from across the country can live together, learn from one another daily, interact, and cultivate diverse global perspectives—is positioned as a key initiative contributing to the development of future global leaders.
The university plans to continue systematically developing and expanding its international student dormitories to accept outstanding students from both Japan and abroad and to further promote globalization.
