On Saturday, December 7, 2024, the Science Castle 2024 Tokyo-Kanto Conference was held at the Kamata Campus of Nippon Engineering College, and the Keio University Faculty of Pharmacy participated as a partner university.
Science Castle is one of Asia's largest conferences, serving as a gateway for future researchers where junior and senior high school students gather to present and discuss their own research.
The Faculty of Pharmacy has been participating as a partner university since 2019, presenting the "Keio University Faculty of Pharmacy Award" to outstanding presenters. It also holds a booth exhibition.
At this conference, Professor Atsushi Yonezawa (Department of Integrated Clinical Pharmacology) served as a judge for the oral presentations and awarded the "Keio University Faculty of Pharmacy Award" to Ms. Hina Sano of Loohcs High School (Presentation Title: "Exploring a Methodology for Visualizing 'Place Memory'"). Additionally, two graduate students from the Department of Biochemistry participated as judges for the poster presentations.
At the Keio Faculty of Pharmacy booth, research related to intestinal bacteria was introduced with the cooperation of the Department of Biochemistry. Professor Masatoshi Tomi (Division of Pharmaceutics) and Visiting Assistant Professor Natsuki Suganuma (Division of Pharmaceutics) answered questions from attendees. The booth also featured a corner for observation with microscopes and was bustling with many participants.
A total of 521 people participated in the conference, which concluded with great success.
