2021 Department of Pharmacy Graduation Research Presentation

2021/11/15

The "2021 Department of Pharmacy Graduation Research Presentation," an event for sixth-year students of the Department of Pharmacy to present the results of their graduation research, was held on Saturday, November 13, in the Multipurpose Hall of Building 1 on the Shiba-Kyoritsu Campus. The event returned for the first time in two years, as last year's presentation for the entire department was regrettably canceled due to the effects of the novel coronavirus.

The event was conducted as a poster session, and the venue was lined with posters presenting the research findings, which are the culmination of the sixth-year students' efforts. Students stood before their posters, explained their research to two faculty members assigned to provide feedback, and then engaged in a question-and-answer session to receive their input. They also explained their research to other faculty members and visiting undergraduate and graduate students, discussing their findings with them.

Sixth-year students in the Department of Pharmacy spend much of their time on graduation research in their laboratories from the time they are assigned in the fall semester of their fourth year, aside from their practical training at hospitals and pharmacies. However, due to the impact of the novel coronavirus, which led to restrictions on campus access, they were unable to advance their research as they wished. Despite these challenges, each student devised ways to continue their work. Although graduation research is aimed at making new discoveries, results often do not turn out as expected. By addressing the new challenges that arise from unexpected outcomes, students hone their problem-solving skills. As this was an opportunity to present the results of their long hours and tremendous effort, every student, though appearing nervous, gave a passionate presentation.
