My connection with Keio University began around the time of Yochisha, the elementary school among Keio University's affiliated schools.

As a young child, I would often see Yochisha from the window of the bus I rode,

and I apparently told my parents, "I want to go there." Since then, I have studied at Keio University's

affiliated schools for elementary, junior high, and high school. I believe the essence of Keio is that its students

understand well that "there is discipline within freedom." You gradually find yourself as you freely explore various possibilities.

I am still in the middle of that process.

The Wonders of the Body and Lives Saved by Medicine.Surprise and Inspiration Sparked an Interest, Leading Me to Choose the Faculty of Pharmacy.

There are four reasons why I chose the Keio University Faculty of Pharmacy for my higher education. The first reason is the mysterious nature of biological phenomena. In my high school chemistry class, there was a project to create content for the school festival, and I decided to produce a video explaining chemical phenomena in the body using 3DCG, which is a hobby of mine. The theme I chose was the glycolytic system, and I created images and videos to represent the process of breaking down sugar. In the process of creating it, I truly realized, "Such amazing things are happening inside our bodies." The surprise I felt at that time turned into an interest in the Faculty of Pharmacy.

The second reason is the contribution of medicine to society. I am also interested in mental health and took the "Kokoro Kentei" (Mental Health Test) in high school. While learning about mental illness, I discovered that various drugs have been developed to save people who were suffering from illnesses with unknown causes. I was deeply impressed by how much of a reassuring presence medicine is for so many people, and I wanted to learn more about it.

The third reason is my ideal vision for the future. I feel that when a disaster occurs or an epidemic spreads, countermeasures should be based on scientific evidence. I believe that the people who will lead society in the future should understand both humanities and sciences. I decided I wanted to understand both, and after considering which to master first, I chose to start by studying the science of pharmacy.

Taking Advantage of the Faculty of Pharmacy's Quarter System for the First Step Toward Entrepreneurship, with an Eye on Studying Abroad.

The fourth reason I chose Keio's Faculty of Pharmacy is that it provides inspiration for my future dream of starting a business. My interest in entrepreneurship surged after attending a lecture by someone from a biotech venture company during high school. The fields of pharmacy and biotechnology are treasure troves of ideas for new businesses, and I thought it would be interesting if choosing the Faculty of Pharmacy could lead to entrepreneurship.

I am studying business knowledge and 3DCG on my own, but my studies at the Faculty of Pharmacy—covering medicine, healthcare, and ethics—are packed with things that can only be learned through university lectures and practical training. I truly feel I made the right choice in selecting the Faculty of Pharmacy.

As a first step toward my dream, I am now participating in a business plan contest for young aspiring entrepreneurs.

I'm working on the contest with a friend from the Department of Pharmaceutical Sciences whom I became close with during a practical training class.

At the Faculty of Pharmacy, classes from the second year onward are on a quarter system, and there are no required courses in the second term (mid-June to late July). By adjusting my elective courses, I can secure plenty of time for independent activities, including the summer break. Taking advantage of this, my friend and I are dedicating the second term to our creative work for the contest.

In the future, I would also like to apply for an educational program offered by a university in Singapore. For my high school graduation thesis, I chose the theme "Education in Other Countries" and compared the educational systems of three countries: Singapore, Malaysia, and Indonesia. Through that, I learned that Singapore as a nation is passionate about education and holds the belief that "education shapes a person." At the English Juku I attended in high school, I met high school students who were going on to study at universities abroad. This made me wonder how Japan's education system could change to make those students want to study in Japan.

So, as a first step, I want to experience the education in Singapore, a country so dedicated to it.

Acquiring the "Ability to Gain Support from Others" to Realize My Dream.

In my first year, classes were mainly online due to the COVID-19 pandemic, and I had few opportunities to go to the Hiyoshi Campus. However, since becoming a second-year student, the number of in-person classes has increased, and I now commute to the Shiba-Kyoritsu Campus more often. What I've keenly realized recently is that I still lack the ability to involve others and move things forward. I tend to do everything by myself, but the central figures in the club activities I see on campus are skilled at advancing projects by getting cooperation and support from many people.

By working on the contest with my friend, I hope to acquire this "ability to gain support from others." Starting a business is a theme I want to devote my life to. Although my interests are varied, I believe that entrepreneurship lies at the end of the path of exploring these interests.
