Kyoritsu Women’s Professional School of Pharmacy, predecessor of Kyoritsu University of Pharmacy, established
Its founder was Noboru Kojima. He received tremendous financial support from Advisor Motojiro Makino (Founder of the then Fudo Savings Bank)

Former Advisor Motojiro Makino’s calligraphy work “Gentle and Peaceful” is currently displayed on the first floor of Building No. 1. On the first floor of Building No. 3 is a bust of former Advisor Motojiro Makino watching over students.
1949
Established as Kyoritsu University of Pharmacy (for women only) following education system reforms
The university’s name did not include the word “Women’s” from the beginning.

Urawa Branch Campus established in Kaminoda, Urawa, Saitama Prefecture (present Urawa-Kyoritsu Campus)

The Graduate School has been coeducational since its founding.

University-affiliated insurance pharmacy opens.
A pharmacy affiliated with a Faculty of Pharmacy on campus was Japan’s first.

2006
With the implementation of the six-year pharmacist education program, the Department of Pharmacy (six-year program) and the Department of Pharmaceutical Sciences (four-year program) begin.
This was due to educational system reform amid the growing social need for medical collaboration.

2008
Merger between Keio University and Kyoritsu University of Pharmacy Keio University’s Faculty of Pharmacy and Graduate School of Pharmaceutical Sciences established

Inter-Professional Education Program starts.
Joint education program involving the School of Medicine, the Faculty of Nursing and Medical Care and the Faculty of Pharmacy begins.

Research Center for Drug Discovery established
Integration of the functions of the Faculty of Pharmacy and the Graduate School of Pharmaceutical Sciences and collaboration both within and outside Keio enabled us to engage in higher-level research.

Four-semester system introduced
A four-semester system dividing spring and fall semesters into two parts each was introduced. Period for independent study by students set up, such as for study abroad.

“Hospital Pharmaceutics Course” - course jointly operated with the School of Medicine - established
A key objective of this program is to cultivate Pharmacist- Scientists who play a vital role in advanced medical care, and have pioneering and leadership capabilities.
