Center Overview

This organization promotes interdisciplinary research that transcends the boundaries of faculties and graduate schools to support the sustainable development of a super-mature society from the perspectives of longevity, safety, and creativity. Keio University will further enhance its international recognition through research in longevity, safety, and creativity, and at the same time, realize the Top Global University Project concept by striving to increase the number of high-quality, internationally co-authored papers through international joint research.

The Creativity Cluster Research Center will use within Keio research grants, such as the (tentative name) Cluster Research Promotion Grant scheduled to be established in FY2015, as seed money to advance its research. It will also secure domestic and international research funding to further develop its research and enhance its role as a research showcase for Keio University both in Japan and abroad.

■Activities Continuing from the Previous Fiscal Year: Background, Rationale, and Goals

By establishing the Creativity Cluster Research Center within the Keio Advanced Research Centers (KARC) as a research hub aiming to become a top global university, the organization will promote interdisciplinary research that transcends the boundaries of faculties and graduate schools to support the sustainable development of a super-mature society from the perspective of creativity. Keio University will realize the Top Global University Project concept by further enhancing its international recognition through research in creativity and, at the same time, striving to increase the number of high-quality, internationally co-authored papers through international joint research.

■New Activity Goals, Content, and Implementation Background for FY2015

By integrating within Keio research grants, such as the "Cluster Research Promotion Grant" currently open for application in FY2015, the Creativity Cluster Research Center will develop international joint research. It will utilize resources such as the Guest Professor (Global) program to produce internationally co-authored papers, thereby improving both citations and reputation.

■Implementation Details, Research Outcomes, and Degree of Achievement Relative to the Fiscal Year's Business Plan

We conducted surveys and studies, including those overseas, on a wide range of research developments, including media design, science and engineering, and literary creativity. To develop research as a creativity cluster, a call for applications for the Top Global University Project Research Grant Program is being conducted throughout the university.

■Special Achievements through Center Activities

We were able to establish a foundation that enhances the role of Keio University as a research showcase both in Japan and abroad.
