Center Overview

This organization promotes interdisciplinary research that supports the sustainable development of a super-mature society from the perspectives of longevity, security, and creativity, transcending the boundaries of faculties and graduate schools. Keio University will realize its Super Global University Project concept by further enhancing its international recognition through research in longevity, security, and creativity, while at the same time striving to increase the number of high-quality, internationally co-authored papers through international joint research and other initiatives.

The Research Center for Security Cluster will advance its research using research grants within Keio, such as the "(tentative name) Cluster Research Promotion Grant" scheduled for establishment in FY2015, as seed money. It will also further develop its research by acquiring funding from both domestic and international sources, enhancing its role as a research showcase for Keio University both in Japan and abroad.

FY2015 Action Plan

■ Activities Continuing from the Previous Fiscal Year: Background, Rationale, and Goals

As a research hub aiming to become a world-leading university, the establishment of the Research Center for Security Cluster within the Keio Advanced Research Centers (KARC) will create an organization that promotes interdisciplinary research supporting the sustainable development of a super-mature society from the perspective of security, transcending the boundaries of faculties and graduate schools. Keio University will realize its Super Global University Project concept by further enhancing its international recognition through security research, while at the same time striving to increase the number of high-quality, internationally co-authored papers through international joint research and other initiatives.

■ New Activity Goals and Content for FY2015, and Background for Implementation

By integrating research grants within Keio, such as the "Cluster Research Promotion Grant" for which applications are being accepted in FY2015, the Research Center for Security Cluster will develop international joint research projects. It will utilize Guest Professors (Global) and other resources to produce internationally co-authored papers, thereby improving both citations and reputation.

Held the Security Cluster Symposium: January 13, 2015, at the North Hall, Mita Campus.

■ Notable Achievements through Center Activities

We were able to establish a foundation that will use research grants within Keio, such as the "(tentative name) Cluster Research Promotion Grant" scheduled for establishment in FY2015, as seed money to advance research. This foundation will also acquire funding from domestic and international sources to further develop research and enhance Keio University's role as a research showcase both in Japan and abroad.
