Summary
The use of hydrogen as an energy source has been in the spotlight as a key to solving the so-called 3E trilemma: Economy, Energy, and Environment. Focusing on the inhibitory effect of hydrogen gas on ischemia-reperfusion injury, we have demonstrated that hydrogen gas inhalation therapy has therapeutic effects in various aspects of emergency medical care, and have played a role as a leading and strategic research center for the realization of hydrogen medicine. The Hydrogen Gas Treatment Development Center promotes non-clinical and clinical research based on industry-academia collaboration, and continues to work toward the approval of hydrogen gas and hydrogen medical devices by the pharmaceutical affairs bureau.
