Since FY2020, to strongly promote globalization and interdisciplinary research at Keio University, KGRI has been offering the Pre-Startup Research Grant for nascent research in the stage preceding startup research. As with last year, publicizing the grant was challenging due to the COVID-19 pandemic. This fiscal year, however, we expanded the program by adding a new category (5 grants of 800,000 yen) in addition to the existing research grants (10 grants of 300,000 yen). We received many active applications, including concurrent applications with the Startup grant and applications for the expanded category.

The recipients for this fiscal year are as follows. We hope that this grant will be used appropriately and effectively by the recipients and will contribute to the development of their respective research. Furthermore, we look forward to this leading to the "Startup Research Grant" in subsequent years or to more global and interdisciplinary developments.
