First, Professor Jiro Tamura (Professor, Faculty of Law, Keio University) gave the opening remarks, explaining the significance of the Cryptocurrency Research Project and introducing Mr. Sekiguchi. Next, Mr. Sekiguchi explained the features and functions of Bitcoin, and in doing so, described the differences between cryptocurrency, electronic money, and fiat currency. He then discussed the history of bubble bursts and the trends in digital currencies in various countries, and also explained the state of cashless payments in Japan. Finally, a Q&A session was held, where he answered questions from the audience.
This project aims to deepen the understanding of the potential that cryptocurrency brings to society and to promote research and dissemination in the cryptocurrency industry by providing opportunities to hear directly from practitioners with deep knowledge of cryptocurrency as guest speakers.
