Overview :
We will invite the chairman of the "Digital Currency Forum," which consists of major Japanese companies and megabanks, to explain the basic concepts of digital currencies and the differences between "central bank digital currencies" and "privately issued digital currencies."
The speaker will also discuss the ideal division of roles between the private and public sectors in payment infrastructure and the potential contributions of digital currencies to the digital transformation of the Japanese economy.

Since 1986, he has been involved in areas such as monetary policy, economic analysis, and market operations at the Bank of Japan. He has served as Head of the Economic Analysis Group in the Research and Statistics Department, Senior Economist in the Planning Division 1 of the Policy Planning Office, Deputy Director-General and Head of Large Banks Monitoring in the Financial System and Bank Examination Department, Financial Markets Department Officer, and Payment and Settlement Systems Department Officer. During this time, he has held positions at international organizations, including Alternate Executive Director for Japan at the IMF, Member of the Basel Committee on Banking Supervision, Member of the Markets Committee at the Bank for International Settlements, and Member of the Committee on Payments and Market Infrastructures at the same institution.
His major publications and papers include "Kinyu no Mirai" (The Future of Finance) (Kinzai, 2019); "Dejitaru-ka suru Sekai to Kinyu" (The Digitizing World and Finance) (Kinzai, 2019, co-authored with Hiroshi Nakaso and others); "Kokusai Kinyu Toshi Tokyo" (International Financial City Tokyo) (Ginko Kenshusha, 2017, co-authored with Yuriko Koike and others); "Law and Economics of Blockchain/Distributed Ledger Technology" (Bank of Japan Working Paper, 2017, co-authored with Noriyuki Yanagawa); and "Information Technology Innovation/Data Revolution and Central Bank Digital Currency" (Bank of Japan Working Paper, 2019, co-authored with Noriyuki Yanagawa).
