2025 Endowed Courses
Leadership Endowed Course: Fundamentals of Leadership
This course offers lectures that incorporate cutting-edge leadership research and education from around the world, as well as participatory classes (active learning) that focus on "dialogue" among students. By systematically studying global leadership from both theoretical and practical perspectives, we cultivate individuals who can lead the times and possess the ability to collaborate, engage in dialogue, and make decisions. In addition, we will run workshops in parallel where groups explore and formulate proposals for social issues, putting into practice "jitsugaku (science)" by applying learning to the real world.
The diverse experiences gained through this course will enhance students' communication skills, naturally lead them to self-reflection in their relationships with others, and guide them toward deep thinking about the true purpose of their university life.
For Students
The Keio Global Research Institute (KGRI) offers courses on cutting-edge issues, with its own faculty members and invited experts from various fields serving as instructors. One of these courses, "Fundamentals of Leadership," is a truly living discipline. We collaborate with researchers from overseas to study the latest leadership theories, integrate the findings back into the course for educational purposes, and then measure student learning to feed the data back into our research.
We operate this program with the aim of maximizing KGRI's functions, which include promoting interdisciplinary and cross-disciplinary research in close collaboration with related educational and research fields at this university.

Cyber Civilization: Revolution and Evolution
Digital technology is having a wide-ranging impact on everything from people's lifestyles to economic systems and social governance structures. The magnitude of this impact has a breadth and depth that could be described as the rise of a new civilization. To cultivate human resources who can guide society correctly amidst this major transformation, advanced education based on interdisciplinary, cutting-edge research is necessary. This includes not only technical perspectives but also philosophy, law, economics, and medicine (well-being). This course aims to provide world-class, high-level classes based on the knowledge and networks accumulated at the Center for Cyber Civilization Research. With Guest Professor (Global) David Farber as the main instructor, and with the participation of faculty members from multiple graduate schools, students will learn about the nature of cyber civilization from multiple perspectives and create new knowledge.
For Students
The Keio Global Research Institute (KGRI) was established as a university-wide research organization that transcends faculties and graduate schools, promoting interdisciplinary and international collaborative research that is not confined to a single academic field, country, or region. Against the backdrop of these research activities, KGRI will offer courses that address cutting-edge issues, with faculty members affiliated with KGRI and experts invited from various fields serving as lecturers.
