Hudson Institute: Washington, D.C. (USA), March 2018

On the morning of March 6, Motohiro Tsuchiya (Professor, Graduate School of Media and Governance) and three other members visited the Hudson Institute to give presentations and exchange views.

The participants were as follows:

- Motohiro Tsuchiya: Deputy Director of KGRI, Professor, Graduate School of Media and Governance

- Yoshihide Soeya: Professor, Faculty of Law

- Toshihiro Nakayama: Professor, Faculty of Policy Management

- Michito Tsuruoka: Associate Professor, Faculty of Policy Management

In Professor Nakayama's presentation, the Japan-US relationship from the administration of former US President Barack Obama to that of US President Donald Trump was discussed, while Associate Professor Tsuruoka's presentation focused on Japan-Europe and Japan-US relations. In Professor Soeya's presentation, he looked back on the history of Japan-US relations and discussed how they should be managed in the future. In addition to researchers from the Hudson Institute, guests from outside the institute were also invited, and they discussed Japan-US relations and Asia under the Trump administration.

At the end of the meeting, they discussed future developments and agreed to plan presentations by graduate students from the next fiscal year onward.
