During the morning of March 7, 2018, a research caravan was held at the Brookings Institution, Washington, D.C. Yoshihide Soeya (Professor, Faculty of Law), Toshihiro Nakayama (Professor, Faculty of Policy Management), Isao Miyaoka (Professor, Faculty of Law), and Michito Tsuruoka (Associate Professor, Faculty of Policy Management) delivered reports.
Experts from inside and outside the institute attended, joining Mireya Solis, the Chair in Japanese Studies at the Brooks Institution, in discussions. The discussions were not open to the public and were held in a closed roundtable format.
It was agreed to consider changing the format of the next symposium to make it open to the public.
