In rowing, a Keio crew competed in the eights. Despite a valiant effort in the famous boat "KEIO," built with the cooperation of the Faculty of Engineering, they were unfortunately eliminated in the semifinals. The untold story of this eights appearance was featured in the August/September 2004 issue of the Keio University official monthly journal, "Mita-hyoron (official monthly journal published by Keio University Press)."

In these Games as well, the Japanese swimming team's performance was remarkable. Keio University's Noboru Terada won the gold medal in the 1500m freestyle, and Reizo Koike won the bronze medal in the 200m breaststroke.
Additionally, in the track and field pole vault event, after a five-hour struggle, Keio University's Sueo Oe and Waseda alumnus Shuhei Nishida shared second and third place with the same record. An anecdote remains that after returning home, they cut their medals in half and joined them together to create the "Medals of Friendship."
