The Faculty of Nursing and Medical Care holds a "Pinning Ceremony" before the start of full-scale clinical training to provide students with an opportunity to think about their future and become leaders in nursing and medical care with a broad perspective. The Pinning Ceremony, which began in 2014, is now in its seventh year, with 111 second-year students participating.
In the past, the Pinning Ceremony was held in person in July, but this year it was held remotely due to the spread of COVID-19.
On the day of the ceremony, following an address by Yuko Takeda, Dean of the Faculty of Nursing and Medical Care, words of encouragement were given by distinguished guests: President Akira Haseyama; Vice-President Jiro Kokuryo; Masayuki Amagai, Dean of the School of Medicine; and Hidemi Misawa, Dean of the Faculty of Pharmacy. Congratulatory remarks were also delivered by Mika Chaen, President of the Keio Nursing Alumni Association (Kobai-kai), and Eriko Kato, Director of the Department of Nursing at Keio University Hospital.
During the ceremony, students declared their future goals in a personal statement, and senior students offered words of encouragement to their juniors.
Many parents and guardians also watched the students' declarations of their future commitments via a YouTube Live stream. We are grateful to everyone who attended. With the inspiration of the "Pinning Ceremony" in their hearts, the students have taken a new step forward into the world of nursing and medical care.
