The final lectures by Professor Mitsuhiro Kamakura and Professor Yoshie Kondo were held on Friday, March 8, 2019, in Rooms 201 and 202 of the Faculty of Nursing and Medical Care Building at Shonan Fujisawa Campus (SFC).

Professor Kamakura's lecture was titled "Infectious Diseases and Society." He spoke about his achievements as an expert in infectious disease medicine spanning about half a century, accompanied by numerous photographs, academic papers, and newspaper articles from the time. He delivered a fascinating lecture covering the outbreak of infectious diseases in Japan and abroad, public reactions to them, the role and achievements of medical sciences research, and future prospects, while also incorporating past questions from national examinations for physicians and public health nurses.

Professor Kondo's lecture was titled "The Beginning and Present of Midwifery Education at Keio University." She spoke about how, approximately half a century after the training program for traditional midwives was abolished in 1950, she launched the midwifery education program at Keio University with the establishment of this faculty, developing its curriculum, facilities, and educational system. She also carefully shared specific anecdotes about how, in the wake of the Great East Japan Earthquake on March 11, 2011, she worked to create an environment where students could feel safe and secure enough to focus on their studies.

The lectures deeply impressed each attendee. Both professors, since the establishment of the faculty, have been passionately involved in education with a sincere attitude toward students and in the spirit of "learning while teaching, teaching while learning." Through their research and clinical activities, they have also supported people and continued to lead the fields of medical sciences and nursing. Over 100 people, including many alumni and current students, gathered for the event. After the lectures, in a warm, reunion-like atmosphere, attendees had the opportunity to express their gratitude to both professors.
