On Saturday, October 21, 2017, the second commemorative lecture for the 100th anniversary of Keio Nursing was held in Classroom 519 at Mita Campus.
To commemorate the 100th anniversary of Keio Nursing in 2018, the Faculty of Nursing and Medical Care is holding a series of relay-style lectures on the theme of the past, present, and future of Keio Nursing. Last year, the first lecture was held on the theme of the past of Keio Nursing. The second lecture, titled "The Present and Future of Keio Nursing," was held to provide a global perspective on Keio Nursing.
The event was opened by Professor Yuko Takeda of the Faculty of Nursing and Medical Care, who served as the master of ceremonies. First, Dean Hiroko Komatsu of the Faculty of Nursing and Medical Care gave the opening remarks.
Next, Hiroki Nakatani, Project Professor at the Keio University Global Research Institute (KGRI), gave a lecture titled "New Horizons in Global Health." He spoke on a variety of interwoven topics, including the current state and future prospects of global health, the significance and approaches of the SDGs (Sustainable Development Goals) in global health, and the future potential of the nursing profession.

After a break, Shiori Nagatani, a graduate of the 7th class of the Faculty of Nursing and Medical Care, a former JICA Japan Overseas Cooperation Volunteer, and currently a student at the Teikyo University Graduate School of Public Health, gave a presentation titled "Learning and Walking Together: Activities as a Cooperation Volunteer." This was followed by Rika Fujiya, a full-time lecturer at the Faculty of Nursing and Medical Care, who gave a practical report titled "Aiming for a World Where No One Is Left Behind." Ms. Nagatani and Ms. Fujiya introduced the field of international health, focusing on topics from their respective fields of activity—Laos for Ms. Nagatani and Palestine for Ms. Fujiya.

Despite the rain on the day of the event, many people gathered, including members of the Keio Nursing Alumni Association (Kobai-kai), current students, faculty, staff, and graduates. Students in attendance eagerly asked questions to the lecturers, not only during the event but also after it concluded. This time, there were many student participants, and the total number of attendees surpassed that of the previous event, making it a great success.
