The Faculty of Nursing and Medical Care holds the Pinning Ceremony before full-scale clinical training begins, providing an opportunity for students to reflect on their future and aspire to become leaders in nursing and medical care with a broad perspective. The ceremony, which began in 2014, marked its fourth year, with 104 second-year students participating.
On the day of the ceremony, following an address by Hiroko Komatsu, Dean of the Faculty of Nursing and Medical Care, words of encouragement were given by distinguished guests: Jiro Kokuryo, Vice-President; Hideyuki Okano, Dean of the School of Medicine; and Yoshikazu Sugimoto, Dean of the Faculty of Pharmacy. Congratulatory remarks were also offered by Mika Chaen, President of the Keio Nursing Alumni Association (Kobai-kai), and Mikiko Matsuda, Director of the Department of Nursing at Keio University Hospital.
During the ceremony, students declared their future goals in personal statements, and Dean Komatsu of the Faculty of Nursing and Medical Care presented a pin to each of them. Upper-year students also offered words of encouragement to their juniors.
Many parents and guardians also attended to witness the students' commitment to their future. We are grateful to everyone who participated. Inspired by the moving ceremony, the students took a new step forward into the world of nursing and medical care.
