The Faculty of Nursing and Medical Care has decided to hold a "Pinning Ceremony" starting in the 2014 academic year. The ceremony is for 105 second-year students before they begin their full-scale clinical training, providing them with an opportunity to reflect on their future and strive to become leaders in nursing and medical care with a broad perspective.
On the day of the ceremony, following an address by Dean Ota of the Faculty of Nursing and Medical Care, words of encouragement were given by distinguished guests: Vice-President Jiro Kokuryo, Dean Makoto Suematsu of the School of Medicine, and Dean Mayumi Mochizuki of the Faculty of Pharmacy. Miyoko Shizume, Director of the Department of Nursing at Keio University Hospital, was also in attendance.
During the ceremony, Dean Ota of the Faculty of Nursing and Medical Care presented a pin to each student. Each student's future goals were introduced as a statement, and senior students also offered words of encouragement to their juniors.
Many parents and guardians also attended to watch over the students as they declared their commitment to the future. We are grateful to everyone who participated. As this was the inaugural year for the ceremony, we will take any points for improvement as a task for the following year.
The Faculty of Nursing and Medical Care hopes that the "Pinning Ceremony" will serve as an opportunity to encourage and support students as they take their first steps toward their future goals.
