On August 9, 2013, the Human Development Department of the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) and the Faculty of Nursing and Medical Care at Keio University signed a memorandum of understanding defining the content of their collaborative cooperation for the Laos Primary Health Care Team Activity Project (Course title: Primary Health Care and International Health II (Overseas Training)). The signing ceremony was conducted by Ms. Nobuko Kayashima, Director General of the Human Development Department, and Dean Kikuko Ota of the Faculty of Nursing and Medical Care.

The Laos Primary Health Care Team Activity Project aims to contribute to the development of core human resources who will lead Japan's future international cooperation in fields such as international health and cross-cultural understanding. It began in 2009 as a program of the Faculty of Nursing and Medical Care with funding from the Future-Leading Fund, and in 2011, it developed into a joint project of the three medical faculties: the School of Medicine, the Faculty of Nursing and Medical Care, and the Faculty of Pharmacy.

From its inception, this program has been implemented with advice and significant support from JICA. This agreement is a recognition of the program's achievements over the past five years. Taking this opportunity, we plan to further enhance the program with the aim of cultivating human resources who can be active from a global health perspective.
