100 Years of Keio Nursing

Nursing education at Keio University began in 1918, the year after education at medical sciences commenced, with the establishment of Department of Medicine Nurse Training Center by Dr. Shibasaburo Kitasato, the first dean of School of Medicine, who recognized the importance of nursing in medical care. It was later reorganized into the Kosei Women's College and the Keio University Junior College of Nursing, and in 2001, Faculty of Nursing and Medical Care was established as the ninth faculty of Juku.

The year 2018 marks the 100th anniversary of the beginning of nursing education at Keio University. As we celebrate this "100 Years of Keio Nursing" milestone, we will continue to develop nursing education that leads the future.
