The School of Medicine holds a New Year's Celebration every year for faculty, staff, and Sanshikai members. For the past three years, the event was held only for Keio University affiliates due to the spread of COVID-19. This year, however, it was held on Friday, January 5, in the large conference room on the 11th floor of Building 2 at Keio University Hospital, and the ceremony was also live-streamed via Zoom webinar.

Chairman Koyu Kobayashi and Vice-President Yashita from the Kitasato Institute, which has close ties with Keio University, were welcomed as guests of honor. Takanori Kanai, Dean of the School of Medicine, gave the opening New Year's address, followed by congratulatory remarks from President Kohei Ito; Chairman Koyu Kobayashi of the Kitasato Institute; Junzo Takeda, Chairman of Sanshikai; Morio Matsumoto, Hospital Director; and Professor Hideyuki Okano of the School of Medicine (representing the faculty and staff).

In addition, the Keio Medical Science Prize Rising Star Award ceremony, based on the "Mitsuhiro Sakaguchi Memorial Keio University Medical Science Fund," was held in conjunction with the New Year's Celebration. The two recipients were Dr. Masatoshi Sakurai, Senior Assistant Professor in the Department of Internal Medicine (Hematology), and Dr. Tomohisa Sujino, Senior Assistant Professor at the Endoscopy Center.
