Professor Akihiko Yoshimura of the Department of Microbiology and Immunology, School of Medicine, has been awarded the Medal with Purple Ribbon in the autumn of 2021. This award recognizes his outstanding achievements in immunology research.

The Medal with Purple Ribbon is an order of merit awarded by the government of Japan to individuals who have made inventions and discoveries in the fields of science and technology, or who have made outstanding contributions in academic, sporting, and artistic fields.
