The 15th White Coat Ceremony was held on Friday, January 10, at the Kitasato Hall on the Shinanomachi Campus.
The White Coat Ceremony is a ceremony for the 107 fourth-year students (Class of 101), who will begin their clinical clerkships this January, to reaffirm their sincere commitment to patients and renew their resolve as aspiring physicians.
At the ceremony, Masayuki Amagai, Dean of the School of Medicine; Yuko Kitagawa, Hospital Director; Sadayoshi Ooi, Director of Shinsei Hospital, a specified medical corporation; and Junzo Takeda, Chairman of the School of Medicine Sanshikai (Alumni Association), spoke about the importance of listening to patients' voices and making judgments with deep observational skills as the students begin their training in a clinical setting. They offered words of guidance and encouragement to the students as they embark on their journey as medical professionals.
After a video message from faculty members of various departments, produced by the Class of 101, was shown, distinguished guests, along with Yuko Takeda, Dean of the Faculty of Nursing and Medical Care; Hidemi Misawa, Dean of the Faculty of Pharmacy; and executive faculty members of the School of Medicine, presented each student with their white coat. The students then recited the "Oath," which the Class of 101 created themselves as part of their commitment to professionalism.
Wearing their new white coats, each embroidered with their name, the students took a new step forward, embracing a spirit of compassion and service and aiming to become physicians trusted by their patients.

To be grateful for the opportunities we have been given and to strive to acquire knowledge and skills.
To stand by our patients throughout their lives and always do our best for them.
And to pioneer the future of medicine with a relentless desire for improvement.
