The School of Medicine holds a New Year's Celebration for its faculty, staff, and Sanshikai members every year. This year's celebration was held on Monday, January 6, in the large conference room on the 11th floor of Hospital Building 2 at Keio University Hospital. Guests of honor included President Koyu Kobayashi and other executives from the Kitasato Institute, an educational corporation with close ties to Keio University, as well as Mr. Ichiro Kitasato, representing the Kitasato family. The event began with a New Year's address by Masayuki Amagai, Dean of the School of Medicine, followed by congratulatory remarks from Keio University President Akira Haseyama, Kitasato Institute President Koyu Kobayashi, Sanshikai Chairman Junzo Takeda, and Professor Kazunari Yoshida of the School of Medicine (representing the faculty and staff). Following this, a reception began with a toast by Hospital Director Yuko Kitagawa. Participants, including executives of Sanshikai, representatives from Keio-affiliated hospitals, and faculty members from the School of Medicine, Faculty of Nursing and Medical Care, and Faculty of Pharmacy, exchanged New Year's greetings and further deepened their friendships.
In conjunction with the New Year's Celebration, an award ceremony was held for the Keio Medical Science Prize Rising Star Award, which is based on the "Mitsuhiro Sakaguchi Memorial Keio University Medical Science Fund." The two recipients were Dr. Joe Ishizawa, an Assistant Professor at The University of Texas MD Anderson Cancer Center, and Dr. Taishiro Kishimoto, a Lecturer in the Department of Neuropsychiatry at the Keio University School of Medicine.
