Since its establishment under Dr. Shibasaburo Kitasato, the first Dean of the School of Medicine and Director of the Hospital, Keio University School of Medicine and Hospital have accumulated over a century of history, guided by the philosophy of cultivating "healthcare professionals with rich humanity and deep intelligence." Our mission remains unchanged: to practice patient-centered medical care that is kind and trusted by patients.

As a Clinical Research Core Hospital with a top-level academic medical and educational environment in Japan, Keio University Hospital collaborates with approximately 100 affiliated teaching hospitals spanning from the Kanto region to Shizuoka and Yamanashi prefectures to form the Keio Medical Alliance. This network is one of the leading specialist training systems in the country, blessed with a wide variety of cases and excellent instructors. It allows trainees to acquire cutting-edge medical knowledge and clinical techniques while developing high-level expertise and general practice capabilities that support community medicine.

The senior resident programs at Keio University Hospital provide systematic training aimed at obtaining specialist certification in various fields. Furthermore, we offer diverse learning opportunities tailored to individual career plans, such as research in graduate school and international activities, allowing trainees to flexibly choose training content according to their future vision as a physician. We have also established a system that allows trainees to concurrently enroll in a senior resident program and a Doctoral Programs, focusing on the development of physician-scientists with a research mindset. Through this, we produce doctors who possess both scientific thinking and research capabilities to lead the future of medical sciences and healthcare.

Regardless of their alma mater, senior residents participating in the Keio Medical Alliance are welcomed as fellow members of Keio, with a system in place to support each other in realizing dreams and goals. To all residents who have completed their clinical training, we look forward to seeing you at the Keio Medical Alliance.
