・Even in facilities specializing in specialized care (e.g., dermatology, neurosurgery, psychiatry, etc.), training content will be conducted that allows for the achievement of goals for general outpatient training. These facilities allow for training in the treatment of general diseases alongside community-based medicine and surgical diseases.

・If general outpatient training cannot be fulfilled through community medicine training, adjustments will be made so that short-term general outpatient training (Internal Medicine (including General Medicine), Pediatrics, surgery, etc.) can be conducted at Keio University Hospital.

・Home care training will be conducted for one to several days during the Monday to Saturday (working hours until 14:30) period of the community medicine training.

*2 With special permission from the Hospital Director, training for a total of up to 3 months is possible at facilities other than the university (such as Tokyo Metropolitan Children's Medical Center (Pediatrics, Dermatology, etc.), Kawasaki Municipal Hospital, Saitama City Hospital (Pediatrics, NICU), etc.).

It is also possible to learn about social conditions through the children at Futaba Infant Home or Shimada Ryoiku Center.

◆ Departments providing general outpatient training include Internal Medicine (including General Medicine), Pediatrics (only at Keio University Hospital), surgery, and Community Medicine. (4 weeks or more)

◆ While the "Pediatrician Training Program" is intended for those aiming to become pediatricians, it is also permissible to proceed to other clinical departments after completing clinical training.

Message from the Program Director

We cultivate pediatricians who possess a rich sense of humanity and a spirit of scientific inquiry in addition to clinical competence.

Based on the fundamental principles of the medical clinical training system established by the Ministry of Health, Labour and Welfare, this program is designed to focus on training in clinical departments related to children in order to cultivate future pediatricians.

While centering on our hospital's Pediatrics and NICU, by training in pediatric surgery, Obstetrics, and further in the Pediatrics and NICU of affiliated community hospitals through electives, you can experience a wide range of child-related diseases.

Through not only pediatric training but also training in Internal Medicine, surgery, and Community Medicine, we aim to develop individuals who not only acquire the basic clinical skills necessary as a physician by interacting with and treating many patients, but also cultivate their character and maintain a spirit of scientific inquiry.

This is an ideal environment for those who find joy in healing children and wish to continue growing themselves. I believe you will also meet pediatricians who will serve as role models for you. Please join the Keio University Hospital Pediatrician Training Program and let us learn together.
