The Doctoral Programs of the Graduate School of Medicine aim to provide education in related fields of basic and clinical medical sciences to cultivate medical researchers and healthcare professionals who possess dignity, wisdom, and virtue, and who can practice medical research and healthcare under the spirit of independence and self-respect, filled with an international perspective and self-reliance. Furthermore, through the practice of medical research, the program aims to foster individuals who possess both a broad perspective and expertise, who can promote highly original basic research, the elucidation of disease mechanisms, and clinical research leading to advanced medical care such as the development of diagnostic, therapeutic, and preventive methods, and who can become leaders guiding the future of medical research and healthcare.

Educational Goals
Based on the Keio University Policy on Graduation Certification and Degree Conferral (Diploma Policy), the goal is to foster researchers who can carry out highly original basic research in related fields of basic and clinical medical sciences, as well as research leading to the elucidation of disease mechanisms and the development of treatments for intractable diseases. In addition, the degree of Ph.D. in Medicine [Ph.D. (Medicine)] will be conferred upon students who satisfy the prescribed requirements set forth in the curriculum.

Qualities and Abilities Goal (1): The ability to set research themes related to the field of medical research and to appropriately establish research and demonstration methods.
Qualities and Abilities Goal (2): The ability to correctly interpret data obtained through established methods and to derive logically sound conclusions.
Qualities and Abilities Goal (3): To acquire broad and advanced knowledge regarding basic and clinical medical sciences, along with high ethical standards.

Organization of the Curriculum
The Medical Science Program (Doctoral) of the Graduate School of Medicine systematically organizes a curriculum aimed at fostering international and practical research execution and research creation abilities in order to cultivate the qualities and abilities listed in the "Policy on Graduation Certification and Degree Conferral (Diploma Policy)."
Implementation of the Curriculum
Based on this curriculum organization, education is implemented by combining teaching methods such as active learning, fieldwork, and PBL (Problem-Based Learning).
Methods for Evaluating Learning Outcomes
The evaluation of learning outcomes for the qualities and abilities goals to be acquired through the curriculum is conducted using direct indicators based on grading criteria established for each subject, following the Juku-wide assessment plan. Evaluations also utilize quantitative/qualitative and direct/indirect indicators, including various questionnaires and surveys.

Admissions Policy
Ideal Student Profile
(1) Individuals who have completed a 6-year program in medicine, dentistry, veterinary medicine, or the Faculty of Pharmacy, or who have completed a Master's program at the Graduate School of Medicine and possess sufficient basic knowledge of medical and life sciences.
(2) Individuals with the motivation to become world-class medical researchers.
(3) Individuals who can read, understand, critique, and engage in constructive discussion regarding English-language papers in medical and life sciences.
Basic Selection Policy
In order to accept a wide range of such applicants, selection is conducted through general admission.
