The Law Lecture Series is a course in which full-time professors from the Keio University Law School provide easy-to-understand explanations of important contemporary legal issues based on cutting-edge knowledge. The theme for 2021 is "New Trends in Corporate Governance." Four lecturers will take the stage with the following lecture objectives. We welcome all who are interested in the theme. Corporate governance, a mechanism for ensuring transparency in corporate management and protecting the interests of stakeholders such as shareholders, employees, and business partners, has been constantly changing due to internal and external pressures for reform. In recent years, ESG management and SDGs have been emphasized, the Companies Act was amended in 2019, and the Corporate Governance Code was revised in June 2021. And now, the digital shift of industrial infrastructure due to the COVID-19 pandemic has become one of the highest priorities. Based on these latest trends, we will examine the challenges and prospects of corporate governance.
