About the Master of Laws (LL.M) in Global Legal Practice
In April 2017, the Keio University Law School established the Master of Laws (LL.M) in Global Legal Practice, in addition to its program for the training of legal professionals (Juris Doctor). This is the first program of its kind in Japan to be offered by a professional graduate school alongside a law school. Students can obtain a Master of Global Legal Practice (LL.M.) degree in one year with English as the language of instruction. This program aims to train legal professionals who can be active in the global field, as well as legal staff for global companies and international organizations. It accepts lawyers and corporate legal professionals who wish to improve their practical skills, primarily in English, and international students interested in Japan and Asia. Furthermore, it also opens its doors to university graduates who aspire to work for international organizations in the future.
Furthermore, the program promotes partnerships with countries in the Pacific Rim, such as the United States, Asia, and Australia, and offers short-term overseas training, six-month study abroad programs, and a double degree program with the University of Washington (Seattle) to support the establishment of overseas bases and networks.
