Hironobu Takezaki, Guest Professor (Part-time) at the Law School, Receives the Grand Cordon of the Order of the Paulownia Flowers in Autumn 2015

Since his appointment as an assistant judge at the Tokyo District Court in 1969, Professor Takezaki has had a long and distinguished career as a criminal court judge and in other roles. He served as President of the Nagoya High Court from 2006, President of the Tokyo High Court from 2007, and Chief Justice of the Supreme Court from 2008. After his retirement, he has been teaching a course titled "Thematic Research (The Role of Legal Professionals in Modern Society and the Qualities and Abilities They Should Possess)" as a Guest Professor (Part-time) at the Keio University Law School. This award of the Grand Cordon of the Order of the Paulownia Flowers recognizes his distinguished service and contributions to the development of the judicial system, including his efforts to promote judicial system reform, such as the smooth introduction and proper implementation of the saiban-in (lay judge) system.
