Symposium Held on "The Realities and Career Paths of Government Attorneys"

Alumni and Follow-up Committee

This symposium was held from 18:10 to 19:40 on Friday, June 12, co-hosted with the 4th Division of the Japan In-house Lawyers Association (JILA).

Despite being held on a Friday evening, the event drew about 50 participants, including alumni and current students, indicating a high level of

interest.

The symposium was moderated by attorney Tadashi Okamoto, head of the 4th Division, who has experience working for the Cabinet Office as a fixed-term public servant (and teaches "Disaster Reconstruction Law" at our law school). A total of seven speakers, including lawyers with work experience at the Ministry of Finance, the Financial Services Agency, and national universities, as well as those currently in service, shared their personal experiences and spoke about the appeal of a career in the administrative sector. Participants asked specific questions, such as the best way to become a public servant after passing the bar examination. Even after the event concluded, many were seen eagerly asking questions and seeking advice from the speakers.

We believe the messages from the "seniors" were certainly received by the "juniors," including our alumni and current students. We would like to express our sincere gratitude to the 4th Division of the Japan In-house Lawyers Association for providing this valuable opportunity, and to the speakers who took time out of their busy schedules to join us.

Since the 2013 academic year, Keio University Law School has been dedicated to training a new generation of legal professionals to meet the demands of the times. To this end, we have established the Public Policy and Legal Affairs Forum Program , among a total of five Forum Programs , to expand the fields in which our graduates can excel. This symposium is part of these efforts, and we intend to continue actively providing such opportunities in the future.

A report on the event is also available on the Japan In-house Lawyers Association's website .
