This year again, we will hold a career guidance seminar for Law School graduates, led by legal apprentices (graduates from the previous year).

This seminar is being held based on a proactive proposal from our graduates. They wish to help students, primarily those taking the 2013 bar examination, plan their future careers and job-hunting prospects by sharing their own job-hunting experiences and what they have seen and heard as legal apprentices.

Specifically, we will provide an opportunity for several legal apprentices who secured employment at different times (e.g., before the pass/fail announcement, after the announcement but before the apprenticeship, or after the apprenticeship began) to talk about how they conducted their job search after the bar examination.

We are also arranging for individuals who pursued careers as in-house counsel or in general corporations to speak, so that attendees can learn about career paths other than law firms.

Additionally, legal apprentices who hope to be appointed as prosecutors or judges will also speak about the significance of job hunting at law firms for those aspiring to official appointments, and about the job-hunting process for such appointments, all from their perspective as legal apprentices.

The following is a message from the legal apprentices who organized this event.

"In recent years, the job market for those taking the bar examination has become quite challenging. Many of you may be wondering what to do when it comes to job hunting, or feel that there's no point in starting before the results are announced because you aren't aiming for a major firm.

However, it is crucial to start your job search as early as possible. We will have a Q&A session, and we believe this is a rare opportunity to ask frank questions to graduates with diverse experiences. We know you will be tired right after the bar examination, but we strongly encourage you to attend."
