The Keio University Law School is pleased to announce that it will be hosting a lecture by Professor Reinhard Zimmermann from Germany as detailed below. Professor Zimmermann is currently the Director and a professor at the Max Planck Institute for Comparative and International Private Law. He has made significant contributions to the reform of the German Civil Code (Law of Obligations) and the drafting of the Principles of European Contract Law.
In this lecture, drawing on his extensive experience, Professor Zimmermann will discuss the reform of contract law. Specifically, he is expected to touch upon topics such as remedies for breach of obligation (non-performance), liability for defects, extinctive prescription, and consumer contracts.
In recent years, discussions on the reform of the Civil Code (law of obligations) have been gaining momentum in Japan. In this context, we expect that this lecture will provide us with extremely valuable insights.
We encourage all students of the Keio University Law School, who will be the legal professionals of the near future, to actively participate.
