"The Saiban-in System and the Current State of Criminal Justice: From a Prosecutor's Perspective"

Prosecutor Akira Yokoi (Public Prosecutors Office, Yokohama District Public Prosecutors Office), who taught criminal law courses at this Law School as a dispatched prosecutor until fiscal year 2012, will give a lecture on the theme of "The Saiban-in System and the Current State of Criminal Justice: From a Prosecutor's Perspective." Current students and alumni are all welcome to attend.

Lecture Contents

① The current state of trials under the saiban-in system (evidentiary activities of prosecutors and defense attorneys, the court's decisions on the admissibility of evidence, etc.)

② Effective courtroom activities in saiban-in trials from a prosecutor's perspective

③ Other topics (including the current state of criminal justice since the start of the saiban-in system)

Speaker: Prosecutor Akira Yokoi (47th term)

After graduating from the Faculty of Law at Nihon University, he was appointed as a prosecutor in April 1995. He has served in various positions, including at the Tokyo District Public Prosecutors Office, the Naha District Public Prosecutors Office, attached to the Judicial System and Legislation Department, Minister's Secretariat, Ministry of Justice, and the Special Investigation Department of the Tokyo District Public Prosecutors Office. From April 2010 to March 2013, he was a professor at Keio University Law School (dispatched by the Ministry of Justice). From April 2013 to the present, he has been with the Public Prosecutors Office, Yokohama District Public Prosecutors Office.
