On Saturday, December 16, 2017, the international symposium "Daily Life in an Extraordinary Era: An Approach to the Mao Zedong Era through Private Historical Materials" was held at the Keio University Mita Campus. Following the opening remarks by Professor Nobuo Takahashi of the Faculty of Law, Senior Assistant Professor Miwa Shimada and Associate Professor Kazuko Kojima served as moderators. The event continued with a keynote speech by Professor Zhang Letian from Fudan University, China, a presentation by Researcher Wang Xuefen, and a presentation by Professor Cong Xiaobo from Northeast Normal University. Participants were able to gain the latest insights into the private historical materials approach, which has been gaining attention in recent China studies. The symposium was attended not only by faculty members but also by undergraduate and graduate students from the Faculty of Law, and a lively discussion was held in Chinese. It is hoped that the meaningful academic exchange between the Faculty of Law, Fudan University, and Northeast Normal University will continue in the future.
