On November 20, 2019, Kenji Iida, a graduate of the second class of the Course for Sports Management, received the "Health Grand Prize" at the 2019 All-Japan Tai Chi Exchange Tournament. The All-Japan Tai Chi Exchange Tournament is the largest tai chi event in Japan, jointly held by all schools of tai chi in the country and attracting over 1,000 participants. The Health Grand Prize is a very prestigious award presented to either (1) individuals aged 80 or older who have contributed to their local communities for many years through the practice of tai chi, qigong, and other activities, or (2) individuals of any age who have published theoretical and scientific papers and books. Mr. Iida was reportedly recognized for the latter. Throughout his master's and Doctoral Programs, Mr. Iida continued his research on the health benefits of tai chi. After graduating, he has been promoting and practicing tai chi, drawing on his academic background. The photo is a commemorative shot from the laboratory's year-end party.
