Introduction to Field
In the field of gerontological nursing, we are committed to conducting high-quality research, disseminating its findings to care and nursing practice settings and society overall, and cultivating professionals capable of delivering high-quality care to the elderly and their families.
At the master’s level, emphasis is placed on the ability to interpret and disseminate high-quality research (particularly for students in the CNS program) and acquiring the fundamental skills necessary to conduct high-quality research.
While in the doctoral program, it is recommended that students engage in multiple research projects and publish their findings internationally in order to develop the ability to conduct high-quality research and disseminate its findings widely to society. Through the process of engaging in research, our aim is that, through their own efforts under the guidance of their tutors, students gain an understanding of the latest research trends and situation in society, and also acquire the knowledge and skills necessary for their own research.
Regarding the research activities of faculty members, as research on elderly care is best conducted in a interprofessional and interdisciplinary manner, collaborative research is also undertaken with specialists in social welfare and law from other universities. Furthermore, since the aging of Japan’s population is particularly marked, with the aim of globally disseminating knowledge on elderly care in Japan, we are also undertaking joint research with universities in other countries.
