Imai, Shungo
Faculty of Pharmacy Department of Pharmacy Associate Professor
Research Overview
From the perspective of a clinical pharmacist, I conduct clinical research focused on drug safety and appropriate use. In particular, I seek to overcome the limitations of conventional research methods by incorporating data science approaches, such as medical big data and machine learning, into clinical pharmacy research. I am also engaged in building the evidence base needed to appropriately conduct epidemiological research using medical big data. More recently, I have been working on the development of novel methods to validate the accuracy of disease names recorded in administrative claims data. Through this line of research, I aim to translate the methods and expertise I have developed and accumulated into clinical practice, thereby contributing to the enhancement of research activities among healthcare professionals, including pharmacists and physicians, and ultimately to the delivery of better pharmacotherapy for patients.
