Research Overview
KONO Lab aims to quantitatively understand the design principles underlying living systems by integrating bioinformatics, systems biology, synthetic biology, and molecular biology. The lab investigates bacterial genome architecture and function, the relationship between protein sequences and material properties in biological materials such as spider silk, and the molecular mechanisms that support ecological and behavioral strategies of slime molds and ants. By combining multi-omics analyses, including genomics, transcriptomics, and proteomics, with experimental biology, the lab seeks not only to decode living systems but also to develop foundational technologies for designing and building biological systems.
