Research Overview
Intracellular dynamics of metal ions is known to be strictly regulated in their qualities as well as quantities, and proteins called "metallochaperones" are responsible for maintenance of the regulation. A purpose of our research is to decipher a mechanism that enables metalloproteins to receive specific metal ions from metallochaperones. Also, we are investigating a pathomechanism of neurodegenerative diseases that appear to be caused by breakdown of the intracellular metal dynamics.
