Research Overview
I conduct research on opera and music theatre in Europe and Japan, with a particular focus on the works of Richard Wagner. My approach is primarily grounded in the perspective of staging and performance. In addition, I engage with the theme of transculturality in contemporary opera and music theatre, undertaking comparative analyses that focus especially on modalities of absence, such as silence, stillness, and the interval (ma).
