This scholarship was established to honor the achievements of the late Duncan Clarke Hyde, a Canadian professor who taught at the Faculty of Economics at Keio University in the 1920s. The scholarship has been awarded since the 2020 academic year. It is intended to support outstanding second-year students in the Faculty of Economics who come from outside of the Tokyo metropolitan area or overseas. By reducing financial burdens, the scholarship aims to enable recipients to pursue a fulfilling and productive student life.
Stipend amount: 400,000 yen (annual amount)
Scholarship duration: One year only (cannot reapply in the following academic year)

Eligibility requirements All of the following conditions must be met:
- Faculty of Economics second-year students (including privately financed international students)
- Applicants must demonstrate strong academic performance (GPA of 2.7 or higher) and strong motivation for their studies
- Applicants must live away from home or commute long distances and experience financial difficulties that affect their ability to focus on their studies. (However, priority will be given to applicants who graduated from high schools located outside Tokyo and Kanagawa Prefectures.)
