Information for those applying for September 2027 and April 2028 entry
Applicants outside Japan are highly recommended to apply to Winter AO because:
there's no need to travel to Japan for the screening*, and
there are scholarship opportunities exclusively for Winter AO applicants.
*Applications for Spring, Summer, or Fall AO screenings require an in-person interview in Japan on a designated date.
*The Faculty of Policy Management and the Faculty of Environment and Information Studies do not accept transfer students.
Screening Method and Scholarships
Winter AO applicants are required to submit application documents online--no interviews or travel to Japan required. The application process is entirely in English.

Payment of Application Fee
Payment period: 11:00a.m., December 8, 2026 - 3:00p.m., January 22, 2027
Applicants are required to pay an application fee of JPY 35,000 through TAO by credit card (additional payment options are available for domestic payments within Japan). Be sure to follow the on-screen instructions, and complete the payment before you submit your application.
