On August 23, the final of the 105th National High School Baseball Championship was held at Hanshin Koshien Stadium. Keio Senior High School defeated Sendai Ikuei Gakuen High School (Miyagi Prefecture) 8-2 to win the championship. This marks the second time the school has won the Summer Koshien, the first being in 1916 at the 2nd tournament when the school competed as Keio Futsubu School. The deep red championship flag returned to the Juku for the first time in 107 years. During the tournament, many spectators, including Keio students and Keio University alumni, packed the stadium, and the grounds were filled with loud cheers.
The Keio Senior High School nine played intense games in every match. Their offense and defense worked in harmony to defeat powerful schools from across the country. On the mound, the relay of pitchers Kamon Suzuki (2nd year) and Kiichi Matsui (3rd year) proved successful, centered around ace Masaki Oyake (2nd year), who pitched a shutout in the semifinal against Tsuchiura Nihon University High School. In batting, Aita Nobusue (3rd year) recorded five RBIs in the third-round match against Koryo High School. The Keio Senior High School lineup maintained an aggressive offensive stance throughout, supporting the excellent performance of the pitching staff.
