Keio University Childcare Support Program KIDS (Keio Infant Daycare Support)

On the Launch of the ""Keio University Childcare Support Program (KIDS)""

Keio University is pleased to announce the launch of the ""Keio University Childcare Support Program (KIDS),"" designed to support faculty and staff in balancing work and childcare. As we have informed you during new employee orientations and other occasions, Keio University currently operates various childcare support systems. As further support, we are introducing new initiatives such as a support desk that serves as a consultation service for childcare-related matters, and childcare support that assists with the cost of childcare when classes are held on holidays. These new systems, combined with existing ones, will strengthen our framework to enable individuals to continue their careers regardless of gender. The environment and needs for operating these systems may vary depending on job type or campus. Some may feel that the target beneficiaries of the support programs are limited, or that childcare is not relevant to them. However, childcare support is not just an issue for those currently raising children. Creating a more supportive work environment for those raising children enhances individual motivation and invariably has a positive impact on the workplace. From a mid-term perspective, it will not only boost labor productivity but also significantly contribute to human resource development at Keio University. For the smooth operation of these systems, the warm understanding of those around us is indispensable. Extending a helping hand to someone who needs support now connects to the future of all of us. ""KIDS"" is part of the various support programs offered by the Office for Promoting a Harmonious Campus Environment. Moving forward, alongside the support systems provided by the Human Resources Department and the Keio University Health Insurance Association, we will continue to address not only childcare support but also elder care support and disability support, which many more individuals are likely to face. In response to requests for a comprehensive guide to the support systems offered by the Human Resources Department and the Keio University Health Insurance Association, along with the newly launched ""KIDS,"" we are pleased to provide the ""Overview of Childcare Support Systems at Keio University."" We also hope you will utilize the website of the Office for Promoting a Harmonious Campus Environment as a portal site. Based on the spirit of ""Shachu Kyoryoku"" (cooperation among colleagues), which Keio University has cherished – helping and cooperating with each other – we will continue to strengthen the development of a supportive work environment. We kindly ask for your understanding and cooperation. (January 2020)

To strongly support faculty and staff engaged in research, education, and medical care in balancing work and childcare, the Keio University Office for Promoting a Harmonious Campus Environment will sequentially launch the ""Keio University Childcare Support Program (KIDS)"" starting from January 2020. This program complements various initiatives already provided by the Human Resources Department and others (Childcare and Elder Care Support) to further promote childcare support across Keio University. Through this initiative, we will broadly support the work-life balance of faculty and staff raising children.

KIDS Support Desk

This is a core service of the KIDS program.

You can consult with specialized staff on a wide range of topics, including ""Nursery School Search Support,"" ""Nursery School Search,"" ""Childcare Consultation,"" ""Food Education Consultation (by registered dietitians),"" ""General Gynecology,"" and ""Fertility Treatment.""

In addition to a toll-free consultation line exclusively for Keio University faculty and staff, consultations are also available via LINE, also exclusively for Keio University faculty and staff. By adding this LINE account as a friend, you can not only consult via chat but also receive various information through regular distributions. Please make use of this service.

KIDS Conference Childcare Support

If it becomes necessary to work on a holiday due to business reasons (e.g., needing to come to work for holiday classes, entrance examination duties falling on a holiday, or having a shift on a holiday for other regular duties), and childcare services are utilized, the Office for Promoting a Harmonious Campus Environment will subsidize 6,000 yen per use, up to a maximum of 10 times per fiscal year (with a budget cap).

KIDS Babysitter Discount Voucher

Using the ""Babysitter Dispatch Service"" (a project commissioned by the Cabinet Office) implemented by the National Association of Childcare Services, we issue discount vouchers to eligible faculty and staff for using babysitter services.
